Ruth asks for assurances that the new Government will put more Bobbies on the beat
On Monday 21st October, Ruth Cadbury MP asked the Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, what steps the Government is taking to improve neighbourhood policing in West London.
Hounslow, like other London boroughs, is still recovering from the decision by the previous Government to reduce the number of frontline police officers in London. With crimes like shoplifting at a 20-year high, Ruth questioned Ministers on the Government’s new Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee. In her question Ruth asked the Home Secretary whether West London “will get the neighbourhood policing teams we need?”

Ruth questions Prime Minister in Parliament over Grenfell fire inquiry and building safety crisis
On Wednesday 4th September the second phase of the inquiry into the Grenfell Fire was released, which revealed a widespread and systematic failure by successive Governments, public bodies and private companies. The inquiry by Sir Martin Moore-Bick said that ‘the simple truth is that the deaths that occurred were all avoidable’. The report found that there was ‘systematic dishonesty’ from those who made and sold the cladding on Grenfell, while also warning that successive governments had ignored warnings and watered down building safety standards.

Statement from Ruth Cadbury MP
Residents across our borough share my revulsion at the explosion of violent Islamophobic and racist behaviour taking place across the UK over recent days. These riots are randomly attacking businesses, individuals and are targeting mosques and asylum hotels. I can only imagine the impact this is having on many local residents.

Ruth calls for Transport to be ‘at the heart of national renewal’ during Kings Speech Debate
Ruth Cadbury MP used her first speech in Parliament since the 2024 general election to call for the Government to put transport at the ‘‘heart of national renewal’’, while praising the Governments ‘bold’ legislative agenda. In her speech Ruth mentioned the economic benefits that investment in transport, especially public transport such as rail and buses, can bring while also highlighting the positive benefits in tackling the climate crisis.

The King’s Speech – a bold program to rebuild our country
Ruth Cadbury MP has hailed the new Government’s legislative programme outlined in the Kings Speech as a ‘‘bold plan to restore our public services, grow our economy and tackle the cost of living crisis.’’
On Wednesday 17th July the Kings Speech was read out in Parliament detailing then new Labour Government’s agenda in Parliament over the next year.

Statement on Watermans closure
Like many residents of Brentford I was shocked and saddened by the news that Watermans would be closing at such short notice. As someone who has fond memories of the centre going back almost 40 years, I know the important role it has played in our local community, both as a base for the arts, but also as an accessible community space – something we are short of on the eastern side of the borough. I am particularly concerned about the impact on those who work at Watermans, including those running the bar and restaurant.

Ruth's comment on the budget
This budget was a missed opportunity for Hounslow. The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak promised to grow our economy, yet our economy is in recession and the tax burden remains at the highest level for 70 years. People locally know how poorly our economy is doing- they see it with rising food bills, energy bills that remain high and rents and mortgage payments that continue to rise. Meanwhile our economy remains stuck in a cycle of low growth, with families locally suffering the cost of this.

Ruth on UK Government to take urgent action over medical aid for Palestinians
Ruth Cadbury MP has spoken up in Parliament on the 27th February and called on the UK Government to take urgent action around medical care and aid for Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
In her question in the House of Commons Ruth raised the horrifying cases of young children having to be operated on without any anaesthetic because the healthcare system in Gaza was in a state of collapse.

Vote on Gaza
Over the past weeks I have received hundreds of emails from constituents about the horror unfolding in Gaza, and across Israel the West Bank and East Jerusalem. I have listened to people locally during school visits, community events and meetings with religious leaders including with leaders from Hounslow’s mosques.

Ruth marks run up to armistice day
In the run up to armistice day on the 11th November Ruth Cadbury MP has planted a memorial stake at the remembrance Garden in the Houses of Parliament. On her stake, which represented her parliamentary constituency, Ruth included a tribute to the work of the Royal British Legion who have supported veterans and their families for over 100 years. Founded in 1921 the Royal British Legion have supported those who fought in World War 1, World War 2 and subsequent conflicts- along with all those who served for the armed forces.

Ruth responds to King’s Speech
Ruth Cadbury MP has labelled the Governments Kings Speech as a ‘‘watered down effort from a tired Government’’, while criticising the lack of action on key issues ranging from the cost of living crisis, to the lack of affordable and safe housing.
Ruth also labelled the Prime Minister and the Government ‘out of touch’ after reports of new proposals to ban the use of tents for those sleeping rough. Ruth also criticised the ongoing failure to tackle the growing NHS waiting lists and the crisis in the health and care sector.

Ruth writes to Foreign Secretary about Gaza
Ruth Cadbury MP has written directly to the Foreign Secretary James Cleverley to call for the UK Government to do more to ensure that vital aid can reach the civilian population in Gaza. With widespread reports of hospitals and other buildings losing power Ruth raised the importance of ensuring that aid such as fuel, food and medical supplies can reach the civilian population. In her letter Ruth also specifically called for the Government to increase the amount of aid reaching Gaza, to appoint a UK wide coordinator for aid and to deploy UK medical and support teams to Gaza.

Ruth Cadbury MP reacts to new data showing over 58,000 people locally are waiting for care on the NHS
Over 58,000 people are waiting for treatment at the NHS trust that includes West Middlesex Hospital, according to figures published by the NHS. This is an increase from 48,000 people waiting for care in the summer of 2022 at the same trust. Of those waiting, a total of 1,761 have been waiting longer than a year. The NHS target is for patients to wait no longer than 18 weeks for hospital treatment, but 39% of patients on waiting lists locally are waiting longer than that.

Ruth speaks out against Park Road Allotments building plans
On Tuesday 1st August Ruth Cadbury MP spoke to oppose plans by the Duke of Northumberland Estate to build flats on the 100 year-old allotments in Park Road, Isleworth.
It was the first day of the 5-day public inquiry being held by the Planning Inspectorate. These plans have long been opposed by a wide coalition including the Isleworth ward councillors Salman Shaheen, John Stroud-Turp and Sue Sampson, along with the Isleworth Society, allotment plot holders and a number of other community groups and residents.

Ruth backs Afghani women’s rights
Ruth Cadbury MP has called for the Government to act over the continued decline in the rights of women and girls living in Afghanistan.
During Foreign and Commonwealth Questions last week July Ruth raised the impact that the defacto ban on female aid workers was having on female led households in Afghanistan, and warned that this was causing a delay in vital aid reaching families at risk.
Ruth asked the Government if they had carried out a risk assessment of this change and then pressed the Minister on what actions the Foreign Office had taken to raise this issue.

Ruth writes to South Western Rail over planned ticket office closures
Ruth Cadbury MP has written to South Western Rail to express her serious concern over plans to close ticket offices and reduce staffing hours on rail stations across London. In her letter Ruth said the proposed cuts in staffing hours at Brentford, Chiswick and Hounslow and the complete closure of the ticket office at London Waterloo would affect many passengers especially those who travel by train occasionally, are disabled or are not able to buy tickets on-line.

Ruth slams Government over long NHS waiting lists
Ruth Cadbury MP has slammed the Government after figures showed that more than 7 million people were waiting for elective care on the NHS.
Speaking in the House of Commons at Health Questions on the 11th July Ruth raised the case of one constituent waiting more than a year for an orthopaedic assessment during which time they were unable to work, and another waiting over 3 years for prostate surgery. Both needed emergency care due to their condition.

Ruth calls out Government’s failure on climate crisis
Ruth Cadbury MP has called out the Government after a recent report by the Climate Change Committee found that the UK Government was falling behind in tackling the climate crisis. The report said that the committee was ‘markedly’ less confident that the UK would reach its targets for cutting carbon emissions, and warned that the UK was falling behind in installing new energy efficient heat pumps.

Ruth leads debate in Parliament over crime and anti-Social behaviour in West London
On Monday 4th July Ruth Cadbury MP lead a debate in the House of Commons on the subject of crime and anti-social behaviour in West London. Ruth sponsored this debate to follow on from her recent crime survey, which received hundreds of responses from local residents. The new figures from this survey showed that 55% of those surveyed had been victims of crime in the last 12 months.

Ruth shares concerns about interest rate increase
Ruth Cadbury MP has warned that over 10,000 households locally are set to be hit by a significant increase in their annual mortgage payments. This comes from new analysis which shows the predicted rise will be £5,900, impacting 10,900 households in her Brentford and Isleworth constituency.

Ruth criticises Government over hospital broken promise
Ruth Cadbury MP used a speech in Parliament on Tuesday 13th June to criticise the Government for its recent u-turn on the repair of Charing Cross hospital, along with Hammersmith hospital and the rebuild of St Mary’s. These hospitals had been included in the Governments ‘‘2030 new hospital programme’’ plans to invest in parts of the NHS estate, yet in a recent statement in the House of Commons the Government admitted they would no longer receive support to enable a full set of repairs before 2030.

Ruth Cadbury MP used a speech in Parliament on the 23rd May to speak about the injustices facing leaseholders across her constituency. In a speech that covered the high cost of service charges, to poor property maintenance, Ruth highlighted the huge injustices facing leaseholders locally. She focused particularly on the huge costs facing leaseholders who have seen both their service charge, and building insurance rise in recent years.

Ruth calls for consistency in car scrappage scheme
Speaking in Transport Questions in Parliament on Thursday 20th April Ruth Cadbury MP called on the Government to provide financial support to Londoners looking to trade in or ‘scrap’ their vehicles ahead of the expansion of the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in August 2023. While London Mayor Sadiq Khan has already provided £110 million in funding for the scrappage scheme the Government have not provided extra support for Londoners.

Ruth calls for action on building safety crisis
Speaking in Parliament on Monday 27th March Ruth Cadbury MP has called on the Government to take urgent to hold building developers accountable over the ongoing failure to fix building safety and fire safety faults in flats locally.
In her question Ruth warned the Government that many people locally were living with huge amounts of pressure and uncertainty because of the delays in fixing these ongoing faults, and were stuck in limbo while facing the prospect of huge bills to repair faults that the residents did not cause.

Speaking after voting against the bill on Monday 13th March Ruth warned that the Governments new legislation will fail to disrupt and target the operations of gangs engaging in people smuggling.

Ruth backs plan to bring back neighbourhood policing
Ruth Cadbury MP has backed plans to bring back neighbourhood policing after new analysis showed a large reduction in staffing for neighbourhood policing in London due to funding cuts by the Government.
This data showed the number of PCSO’s across London has collapsed by 75% since 2010- with over 3,500 fewer officers.
The current Mayor of London Sadiq Khan is investing more funding into policing, including an announcement for 500 extra PCSOs in London.

On Tuesday 21st February Ruth Cadbury MP led a Parliamentary debate on the affordability and availability of childcare. During the debate Ruth spoke about the huge pressures facing parents, many of whom are either spending large amounts of their income on childcare, or are unable to return to work due to the high cost of childcare.

Ruth backs plans to improve skills training
Ruth Cadbury MP has backed a new plan to boost skills and drive economic growth in West London, as new data reveals a decade of decline in apprenticeships and training due to a lack of action from the Government.
Over the last decade apprenticeship starts have declined by 21% in Ruth’s Brentford and Isleworth constituency as successive Governments since 2010 have failed to equip people with the skills needed for the future of work, particularly in digital skills.

Ruth joins police for ‘walk and talk’
On Friday 27th January Ruth Cadbury MP joined local neighborhood policing teams and the Borough Commander Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson for a ‘walk and talk’ event around Hounslow Town Centre.
During this walk Ruth and the local police officers met local residents and businesses to hear their concerns about crime, anti-social behaviour and other important issues locally.

Holocaust Educational Trust Book of Commitment
This week Ruth Cadbury MP signed the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment and attended a ceremony in Parliament, to pledge her commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and to remember those who were murdered during the Holocaust. Holocaust Memorial Day falls on 27th January every year, the anniversary of the liberation of the infamous former Nazi concentration and death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau, in 1945. Across the UK – and world – people will come together to remember the horrors of the past.

Ruth opposes the Governments new legislation to restrict the right to strike
On Monday 16th January Ruth Cadbury MP voted against the Governments new legislation which would restrict the rights of nurses, teachers, railway staff and others to go on strike.
This legislation was introduced after the Governments ongoing failure to reach an agreement with both public and private sector workers who have been on strike over their pay and conditions. This new legislation would require certain sectors to provide a ‘minimum service’ during strike action and would give employers the ability to dismiss workers who went on strike if they were ordered to work.

Ruth raises concerns over cuts to funds for Council housing
Speaking in Parliament on Monday 9th January Ruth Cadbury MP attacked the Government for cutting the funding for building council and other social rent housing.
Ruth’s intervention came after the Institute for Fiscal Studies found that the Government Department in charge of housebuilding (DLUHC), would see the biggest reduction in their budget after 2025 out of any of the Government departments. Ruth said in the Commons that over 1 million people were in need of good quality housing and warned this number would only grow.

Ruth reacts to new figures showing wages in London
New analysis has revealed the impact that a decade of low economic growth has had on wages in London. Figures released recently have shown that real wages in London have fallen by 6% since 2010- resulting in people being £2,7000 worse off.
These figures also showed that across the country as a whole, real wages are down by an average of 5%, leaving people £1,600 a year worse off than they were in 2010.

Ruth criticises Government’s record on the NHS
New data has revealed 81 operations were cancelled at Chelsea and Westminster Trust in 2021, with 30,000 operations being cancelled across England due to staff shortages.
The figures showed that 81 operations were cancelled at Chelsea and Westminster trust- which includes West Mid in Isleworth. The data revealed that 24 of these operations were cancelled because of operating theatre capacity, 13 were cancelled because of staffing issues and 3 because of a lack of beds.

Ruth raise GP shortage in Parliament
Speaking in the House of Commons on Tuesday 6th December Ruth Cadbury MP has accused the Government of doing ‘too little, too late’ to tackle the shortage of GPs across England.
In her question Ruth mentioned a local case of a GP who was facing the prospect of having to retire early, or work fewer hours due to the Governments rules around NHS pensions. Despite lobbying from GPs and other groups the Government have only recently announced a consultation on reviewing these rules.

Ruth runs 10k for Hounslow Community Foodbox
On Saturday 3rd December Ruth Cadbury MP took part in the Osterley Park run to raise money for Hounslow Community Foodbox based in Brentford.
The foodbox serves as a foodbank for thousands of people locally and has seen a huge increase in demand with both the cost of living crisis and before then with the covid-19 pandemic. In 2022 alone foodbox supported over 8,000 adults and children in Hounslow with food parcels.

Ruth backs small businesses
Ahead of the 10th Anniversary of Small Business Saturday Ruth Cadbury MP has hailed small businesses locally as the ‘lifeblood of our economy’ and encouraged people to support small businesses in the run up to the holidays.
Ruth also pledged her support for several policies to support small businesses such as scrapping the outdated business rates system, improving apprenticeships for young workers entering the workforce and improving the rights for self-employed workers.

Ruth visits ‘Little Village’ hub
On Monday 7th November Ruth Cadbury MP visited the new Hounslow location for Little Village- a charity which organises baby banks providing clothes, toys and equipment for babies and children aged up to five. During her visit Ruth heard about the work done by volunteers and staff at Little Village to run the warehouse location in Hounslow.

Ruth votes to keep triple lock for state pensions
On Tuesday 8th November Ruth Cadbury MP voted to keep the triple lock on the state pension. This vote came after new analysis showed that abandoning the triple lock could leave 15,393 people in the constituency of Brentford and Isleworth worse off, with analysis from the House of Commons Library showing that older people in Brentford and Isleworth face an average cut of £406 in 2023/24 if the Government break their manifesto commitment to keep the triple lock.

Ruth encourages people to sign up for the Stem Cell register
Ruth Cadbury MP has encouraged people locally to sign up for the Stem Cell register ran by the charity Anthony Nolan, which can help save the lives of those with blood cancer. In particular Ruth highlighted the importance of increasing the diversity of the register for stem cell donations to ensure that those from a minority ethnic background could access a much needed transplant. This came after Ruth visited an event held in Parliament on the 26th October which was part of the Communities v Blood Cancer Campaign by Anthony Nolan.

Ruth attends opening of new charity shop to raise funds for local food bank
On Saturday 15th October Ruth Cadbury MP attended the opening of a new charity shop in Isleworth, based in the ground floor of Sunvil’s offices. This new charity shop is a joint venture between South Street Café and Sunvil, and is raising funds for the food bank at South Street Café.
The charity shop is open from 9am-12 and 2PM-5PM Monday to Friday and opens at 10AM on Saturday- prices are "pay as you please" and it's cash only. The funds raised by the shop fund the food bank based at South Street Café.

Ruth reacts to new analysis on rising mortgage rates
Home owners in London coming off a fixed-term rate mortgage face eye-watering mortgage hikes of over £600 a month as a result of the Governments recent mini-budget according to new analysis. Bank of England data shows that homeowners coming off fixed-term rate mortgages are set to be clobbered due to the Government’s attempts to hand unfunded tax cuts to the wealthiest.

Ruth attends launch of campaign to improve heart health
On Monday 3rd October Ruth Cadbury MP joined the launch of the ‘Heart of West London Group’ which has been formed to raise awareness of heart disease and to teach skills such as CPR. The group is made up of Brentford FC, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young, Resuscitation Council UK, Pablo London and A-K-A Day.

Ruth criticises the Government on fracking return
Speaking in Parliament on Thursday 22nd Ruth Cadbury MP has criticised the Government for their decision to allow fracking to take place in England, and has urged the Government to instead support an expansion in alternative forms of energy such as onshore wind power. In her question Ruth mentioned the Governments hypocrisy as it is set to allow fracking to take place without explaining how consent would be gained from impacted communities, while wind turbines were blocked by a small number of objections.

Passport Office delays
Unfortunately, delays within the Passport Office are widespread.
I know that these delays within the Home Office have caused a great deal of anxiety and frustration among constituents. I have been receiving an increasing number of emails and phone calls from constituents reporting delays with their passport application or renewals. I would like to ask for your patience and understanding as my office is dealing with a very high number of requests regarding passports, therefore, they may take a little while to get back to you.

Ruth responds to neighbourhood police cuts
Ruth Cadbury MP has accused the Government of failing to protect people locally from anti-social behaviour, as new analysis shows a huge fall in staffing for neighbourhood policing across the UK, including in London. This comes after more than 14 million people across the country had their lives blighted by graffiti, drug dealing, and other forms of anti-social behaviour last year.

Ruth supports Park Road Allotment Holders Campaign
Ruth Cadbury MP recently met with allotment holders at the Park Road site in Isleworth to support their campaign to protect their oasis from being closed down by the Duke of Northumberland Estate.
During her visit with local councillor Salman Shaheen, Ruth heard from local plot holders about the human and wildlife benefits the allotments have brought for over 100 years. Ruth also heard about the huge uncertainty and distress plot holders have experienced because of the on-going threat of closure.

Ruth visits new ambulance training facility
Earlier this month on Monday 11th July Ruth Cadbury MP joined the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan to visit a new London Ambulance Training facility in Brentside Business Park in Brentford.
During the visit Ruth and the Mayor saw the new state of the art facilities in action and met with trainee crew members to hear about their experiences training. They saw one of the new fleet of electric ambulances that LAS has bought, along with one of the electric fast response motorbikes. They also had a chance to meet ambulance staff’s trade union representatives.

Ruth condemns passport failure
Ruth Cadbury MP has written directly to the Home Secretary Priti Patel to condemn the ongoing backlog of passport applications. In her letter she warned that these delays were having a detrimental impact on many people locally, many of whom were having to travel for work or to see loved ones abroad. Ruth told the Home Secretary about the large number of constituents who had contacted her saying they were still waiting for their passports, including 25 constituents who were waiting more than 10 weeks.

Ruth slams Government over NHS waiting lists
Figures from the NHS show that 48, 548 people are waiting for NHS treatment at Chelsea and Westminster hospital trust (which includes West Middlesex hospital) with 583 people having to wait for more than a year, under the watch of three separate Health Secretaries.

On Monday 5th July Ruth Cadbury MP warned the Government that the cost of living crisis meant that schools across the country were having to cut back on healthy items in school meals and use cheaper products. After a decade of underfunding many schools and colleges are struggling with the increased cost of energy bills and the rise in inflation to 9%.
In her question Ruth criticised the Government for saying this was a matter for schools who set their individual budgets, so she asked whether this was the ‘best the Government could serve up.’

Ruth warns Government cuts to policing have left residents feeling ‘unprotected’
Speaking in Parliament Ruth Cadbury MP has condemned the Government for a decade of cuts to policing which saw a reduction after 2010 of 2,000 police officers in London, with around 70 fewer officers in Hounslow. In her question Ruth mentioned on-going cases of anti-social behaviour in Osterley, while warning the Government that a lack of resources for the police meant that officers could not carry out regular patrols in hot-spot areas.

Ruth marks Jubilee Weekend with events across constituency, and thanks volunteers and keyworkers
Ruth Cadbury MP has thanked the ‘tireless work’ by volunteers, council staff and frontline workers who made possible the many Platinum Jubilee events in Hounslow over the long weekend. Ruth calls for urgent action by the Government to protect women from domestic abuse.
On Thursday 26th May Ruth Cadbury MP called for urgent action from the Government to ensure that public bodies such as the Police, the Crown Prosecution Service and the Probation Service work together to protect women from domestic abuse- especially from ex-partners. Speaking in the House of Commons in Attorney General Questions Ruth warned that she had seen a number of cases where the different organisations were working in ‘silos’, and were failing to protect victims.

Ruth votes for windfall tax on the profits of oil & gas producers
On Tuesday (17th May) Ruth Cadbury MP voted for a windfall tax to be imposed on the profits oil and gas producers, most of which who have made a record profit during the energy crisis. Ruth supported the windfall tax as it would fund the Opposition’s energy plan. If enacted this plan would remove VAT on energy bills, provide extra home insulation for millions of homes and expand the winter homes discount which provides financial support to those struggling with their bills. However this plan was defeated by the Government MPs, who voted it down by 310 votes to 248.

Ruth’s reaction to the Queens Speech
Following the Queen's Speech, Ruth said: ‘‘With the rising cost of rents, food and fuel this Queens Speech was a chance for the Government to set out an ambitious plan to help people locally.
"However, there is nothing in this Queens speech to tackle the rising cost of living, especially with energy bills where people locally have seen their bills rise by over 100%. The Prime Minister should have used this Queens speech to announce a windfall tax on the oil and gas producers who’ve made record profits over the last year- but once again, he chose not to.

Ruth visits Salopian Garden in Isleworth
On Wednesday 11th May Ruth Cadbury MP visited Salopian Gardens in Isleworth to meet with NHS staff, volunteers, and local residents for an outdoor garden event to mark Mental Health Awareness Week. This event was organised by West London NHS trust to bring staff, service users and volunteers together for tea, cake and a chat and to talk about how gardening is great for improving our well-being. The Salopian Garden is a community project on London Road Isleworth, run by the charity Cultivate London.

Ruth marks Firefighters Memorial Day at Isleworth Fire Station
On Wednesday 4th May Ruth Cadbury MP joined Councillor Tony Louki to mark Firefighters Memorial Day at Isleworth Fire Station.

Ruth praises local community for supporting Ukrainians in their darkest hour
Speaking in a debate about Ukraine Ruth Cadbury MP praised the countless acts of charity to support Ukrainians refugees. In her speech Ruth mentioned the example of Chiswick School who sent a bus full of donations, while also praising Polish Radio London who set up a donation point for local people. Ruth then went on to condemn the atrocities committed by Russian forces, especially the targeting of women.

Ruth condemns Governments Rwanda deportation plan as ‘cruel and unethical’.
Ruth Cadbury MP has condemned the announcement by the Government that some asylum seekers arriving in the UK be sent to Rwanda, and unable to seek asylum in the UK.
Speaking in full after the Government’s statement Ruth said,
‘‘The Government’s plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda is simply cruel and unethical. This plan will see people fleeing war and persecution sent to Rwanda, with no chance of returning. It was shocking that the Home Secretary Priti Patel refused to rule out the prospect that young women and children could also be sent to Rwanda.

Ruth urges Government to fix loophole to protect leaseholders and tenants from energy bill spike
Ruth Cadbury MP has written to the Energy Minister Greg Hands MP to call on the Government to take urgent action to fix a loophole which means that some leaseholders in residential flats face soaring energy bills. While people living in residential houses are protected by the ‘Energy price gap’ it’s been warned that over 500,000 leaseholders and tenants living in some blocks of flats are not covered as they are deemed as living in a ‘commercial building’ with a communal energy supply.

Ruth's comment on 'partygate'
Both the Prime Minister and the Chancellor have been found by the police to have broken the lockdown restrictions which they passed into law. Not only have they been found to have broken the law but they both repeatedly claimed in Parliament that they followed the rules and restrictions. The ministerial code is clear that if ministers lie in Parliament then they should resign.
I know from the hundreds of emails I received that many people were rightfully outraged at the Prime Minister and officials in Number 10 holding parties during lockdown.

‘‘I know that I speak for all my constituents in condemning the barbaric and horrific invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces last week.
Ukraine is an independent and democratic country, and this invasion is nothing more than an attempt by Vladimir Putin to subject the Ukraine people to his tyranny. This an unprovoked and unjustifiable attack by Russia. It’s been horrifying to see ongoing reports of civilians being targeted in major cities, and I can only imagine the hardship that so many families are going through.

Ruth joins launch of new Police team for Hounslow Town Centre
On Monday 14th February Ruth Cadbury MP joined police officers for the launch of a new dedicated policing team for Hounslow Town Centre.
This new team will see 24 additional police officers, including one inspector, two sergeants and twenty one PCs, with the team working specifically on the High Street and surrounding areas. Ruth was joined at the launch by Hounslow Council Leader Steve Curran, and Deputy Leader Lily Bath.

Ruth writes to South Western Rail over reduction in train services on Hounslow Loop line
Ruth Cadbury MP has written to South Western Rail to raise a number of serious concerns about the recent temporary timetable, and the wider issues for residents locally who rely on SWR trains.

Ruth Cadbury MP calls on the government to adopt proposals to create over 5,000 apprenticeships in London.
Ruth Cadbury MP has called for urgent action from the Government to increase the number of apprenticeships in London. This call for action comes as National Apprenticeship week begins- which celebrates the enormous contribution made by apprentices and their employers.
New figures have shown that the number of training opportunities and apprenticeships for young people in the constituency of Brentford and Isleworth has fallen by 17%- with 110 fewer apprentices starting compared to figures from 2011.

Ruth Cadbury has urged the Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak to take urgent action after Ofgem announced yesterday that energy bills could rise by over £1,971 per year.

Ruth Cadbury MP calls for urgent action to tackle rise in energy bills
Ruth Cadbury MP has today called for urgent action by the Government to tackle the spike in energy bills and has backed the plan put forward by the Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves MP to reduce energy prices for residents locally and across the country.
This would be done through the introduction of a range of measures such as the removing VAT on energy for 12 months and an expansion to the warm homes program to tackle this increase in energy bills.

Ruth Cadbury MP welcomes Hounslow Council decision to buy back over 500 council homes
Ruth Cadbury MP has welcomed the recent announcement by the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan that Hounslow Council will receive new funding to buy back over 500 council homes. This funding program will see the council purchase 555 homes that once belonged to the council. 25 of these new homes will go to care leavers in the Borough and another 20 will go to refugees who’ve arrived from Afghanistan.

Ruth Cadbury urges local residents to get booster jabs in run up to Christmas
Ruth Cadbury MP has urged local residents in Hounslow to get their booster vaccinations in the run up to Christmas, as the Omicron Covid-19 variant continues to spread throughout the country.
In the run up to Christmas, the Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty has spoken at length of the necessity of everyone to get their booster jabs and to do their bit to protect the NHS.

Ruth votes against Government's nationality and borders bill
Last Wednesday on the 8th December Ruth Cadbury MP voted against the Government's Nationality and Borders Bill at its third reading in the House of Commons.
The Nationality and Borders bill is a new piece of legislation in relation to the UK’s asylum system. Numerous critics such as the Joint Council for the Welfare of Refugees have warned that this measure, along with other elements of the bill, would breach the UK’s international commitments to refugees.
