On Monday 14th February Ruth Cadbury MP joined police officers for the launch of a new dedicated policing team for Hounslow Town Centre.
This new team will see 24 additional police officers, including one inspector, two sergeants and twenty one PCs, with the team working specifically on the High Street and surrounding areas. Ruth was joined at the launch by Hounslow Council Leader Steve Curran, and Deputy Leader Lily Bath.
Speaking after the launch Ruth said,
‘‘I was delighted to attend the launch of a new policing unit for Hounslow High Street. It was great to meet with the hard-working officers and hear about their enthusiasm and dedication to protecting our community.
I have long campaigned for a dedicated team for the town centre in Hounslow and I know that this will make a huge difference for businesses and shoppers locally.
Residents have previously told me that they wanted to see a greater police presence in and around the High Street, and these extra officers will help to tackle anti-social behaviour while also making sure that people feel safe while shopping and travelling around the High Street. This is particularly important for women and girls- who still experience harassment on the streets across the country.
I’m looking forward to continuing to work with the Police locally and with Hounslow Council to ensure that residents feel safe across our Borough. ’’
