Ruth meets with Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall

In a meeting with Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall, Ruth raised a number of local issues, including policing numbers in Hounslow Town Centre.

Ruth Cadbury MP has met with the new Chief Superintendent Jill Horsfall, who is overseeing policing in West London in the boroughs of Hounslow, Ealing and Hillingdon.

Jill replaced the former Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson in November and has served in the Met Police for over 20 years. During the meeting Ruth raised a number of issues with the Chief Superintendent including crime in Hounslow Town Centre and ensuring better support is available for victims of crime. They also discussed the work already being done to tackle shoplifting, fight antisocial behaviour, and protect children.

Speaking in full after the meeting Ruth said,

‘‘I was really pleased to meet with Jill and hear about the hard work that local police are doing to tackle crime and keep residents safe.   It was good to hear that every ward police team now has at least two dedicated officers, with more for areas with higher levels of crime. I am pleased that the police are focusing on how best to support young people and schools locally and are working to link up services to better protect children.

‘‘I used the meeting to raise my concerns with the Chief Superintendent around Hounslow Town Centre and the risks being posed to shoppers and shop staff from persistent crime and anti-social behaviour.  They have made recruiting more officers a priority, and I hope to see some progress on this.

‘‘Crime is one of the biggest issues that residents raise with me when I’m out and about, and I will continue to work with the police to ensure that residents are kept safe.

‘‘Just last week the Labour Government announced an extra £100 million in police funding, which comes as part of the move to recruit 13,000 new police officers and police community support officers. More police on the streets will make a huge difference and I will continue to campaign for Hounslow to get its fair share.’’
