Ruth questioned the International Development Minister about Israel's actions. Ruth also asked the Minister what action they would be taking to hold Israel to account for this, especially after it emerged that the Israeli Parliament was seeking to outlaw UNRWA- who provide relief for refugees.
Questioning the Minister of State for Development, Anneliese Dodds, Ruth asked:
"Despite our Foreign Secretary and Governments of many other countries raising concerns and pleading with Israel, the Knesset went ahead with this vote. What additional pressure will the UK Government apply to Israel, which continues to violate international law and breach the UN charter?"
Responding to Ruth's question, the Minister stated:
"...the UK Government’s response, [...] has been very clear. As we have discussed already, we do not accept this decision, which we believe is the wrong one. Only UNRWA can deliver the aid that is desperately needed, and we will continue to advocate for that very clearly. That aid is critically needed, given the extent of the displacement taking place in Gaza, with large numbers of people having been moved not just once or twice, but nine or 10 times. The Government will continue to push very strongly on these issues."
