Responding in full to the Chancellors Budget on Wednesday 26th November Ruth Cadbury MP has said,

“This budget invests money into our public services, will grow our economy, and will tackle the big issues facing our country, such as child poverty.

With so many families struggling locally, I’m pleased that this Budget was razor-focused on making life more affordable. The Government has removed levies from energy bills, which will reduce bills by £150, frozen NHS prescription charges for the next year, and increased the living wage.

I’m also glad the Government has listened to MPs and charities who have been campaigning about child poverty and will lift 450,000 children out of poverty by abolishing the two-child limit. Over 30% of children in my constituency live in poverty, and ending the cap will help their parents and improve life chances for these young people.

The Chancellor is also protecting our high streets by introducing a lower tax rate for retail, hospitality, and leisure properties. I wrote to the Chancellor calling for this rates relief, and I’m pleased that over 4,000 business properties across Hounslow and Richmond Borough will benefit.

After 14 years of low growth and declining public services, the Chancellor and the Government are investing money into our economy, boosting growth, and getting our frontline services up and running.”
