Ruth Cadbury attends Diwali Reception at Downing Street

Speaking after attending this event Ruth said,

''I was delighted to attend this Diwali Reception with the Prime Minister and to see Downing Street lit up so beautifully to celebrate Diwali."

‘‘Diwali is a chance to celebrate the victory of light over darkness and the triumph of good over evil. Many Hindus across the world celebrate this day by lighting diyas and candles to mark the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma. For Jains, it marks the liberation (or Nirvana) of Mahavira’s soul and the end of the year, while for Sikhs it is the celebration of Bandi Chhor Divas, the Day of Liberation, when the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, was freed from captivity.’’
