Earlier this month Ruth Cadbury MP attended a walk about in Hounslow Town Centre with local police officers to talk about anti-social behaviour, high street crime and other important issues with local officers.
Ruth was able to see the increased presence in the Town Centre Policing Team which has now been increased to over 16 officers. She also met with the borough’s Chief Inspector for Neighbourhood Policing Andew Rawlinson to discuss a number of local issues including neighbourhood policing and the importance of supporting victims of crime.
The police are continuing to encourage residents and business owners to keep reporting crime, using 999 if the incident is in progress, or report online https://www.met.police.uk/ or phone 101.

Commenting in full after this visit Ruth said,
‘‘Shopkeepers, businesses and residents have all told me that we need to see more police officers in Hounslow Town Centre. That’s why I am pleased that we are now having extra officers in Hounslow, including officers working to tackle issues such as street drinking and anti-social behaviour.’’
‘‘I was pleased to see the difference these officers are already making and to see their local knowledge at work, such as targeted work on drug-dealing which has paid off with 33 arrests in July alone.
Figures for most types of crime are down in the borough, with the exception of sexual offences sadly, most of which occur when the perpetrator is well-known to the victim.’’
‘‘I have long campaigned for more police on our streets and I’m glad to see a boost locally. This is part of the Governments work to recruit 13,000 new police officers, to improve training around neighbourhood policing and to introduce changes to the law to target persistent crimes such as shoplifting and thefts.’’
