Ruth Cadbury MP attended two Remembrance events over the past week: one at St Philip & James in Whitton for Remembrance Sunday, and then on Tuesday, 11th November at the Osterley War Memorial.  At both events, Ruth laid a Parliamentary wreath,  while volunteers laid her wreaths at the services Heston, Hounslow, Brentford, and Isleworth.

Speaking in full after these events, Ruth said:

“This year marks 107 years since the guns fell silent on the Western Front. Remembrance Services enable us all to reflect on the sacrifice made by so many, and the mark that war and conflict leaves.

‘‘I have been thinking of my own forefathers who set up the Friends Ambulance Unit, which provided medical care to both civilians and military units in both World Wars and beyond. I know that people across Hounslow and Richmond will also be reflecting on their own family members whose lives were touched by war.

This is a chance to also remember those across the Commonwealth who served, including many who volunteered to fight—whether they were from the Caribbean, India,  Australia or beyond.  It is also our chance, as the words we committed to at the Remembrance service said, ‘to strive for peace, heal the wounds of war and work for a just future for all humanity.”

I would like to thank everyone who attended events locally, along with the police, local cadet units, and the many other volunteers who made the events possible.”
